Children in Prayer Movement Update

Dear Colleagues in the Children in Prayer Movement,

Trust you are keeping well since many of us met in Malaysia for the first Global Consultation on Children in Prayer last September. A lot of seeds were sown in all the cross-fertilization of sharing that took place with the 170 CiP specialists and child prayer leaders that were present. We have heard of significant outcomes and impacts since that groundbreaking event and hope to hear more from you about others that you are aware of.

Some reports on happenings since the Malaysia consultation

  1. Jane Mackie and the Australian Children’s Prayer Network are traveling internationally and within their own nation to share the CiP vision. Caely  Stevens, one of our child prayer leaders in Jane’s network shared the development of the Canberra house of prayer and her own involvement

  2. Cathryn Hall of Viva Network reports possible moves towards a national CiP network in UK with 6 agencies participating.

  3. Eunice Wong, a youth prayer leader described the growth of on line chat of youth in prayer in Malaysia and possible international expansion. Jeffrey Chew reported that about 100 took part in Malaysia’s national CiP conference at beginning of February with different ministries sharing  their approaches, time spent on regional discussion/ networking/ strategies and forming a children pastors’ network. One conclusion is that parents need to play important role, and they will seek to involve them.

  4. In national prayer initiatives in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Egypt and the recent North American Prayer Congress in Mexico City, children were  encouraged to pray for their nations and for other nations.

  5. CiP is increasingly catching on in World Vision with certain national offices, regional child sponsorship forums, and the expected involvement of  children in our annual Day of Prayer, Oct.1. World Vision is also planning an international CiP Forum for spreading this ministry more widely in the  organization.
